The Agnipat scheme- India wants to modernize its military. As the Indian army is a very old fashioned with British traditions, the Joint Staff and the BJP wants to modernize the Indian military. It has ot be younger, get no pensions funds after 4 years as the costs for the miliary troops is preventing that India can invest in the modernization for  its military, weapóns procurement, age, and the whole modernization of the Indian military to match the challenges of the 21^st century and also China. While Indian foreign diplomats  claim that China and India were very close about Russia and  the Ukrainan war, as the Galway village doesn´t  seem so important anymore, but the Indian army just wants to modernize in a way which let it be its own souveheignity. Means: India will raise its stock for  nuclear weapons, the ICBMs and the the tactical nuclear weapons to deter China, will modernize its military to be younger, more sophisticated  and get the money for weapons procurement and the whole structure of the Indian military- transforming  pensioneers to warriors.However the Congress party sees soldiers as state officials with a pension while the BJP sees Indian military as a profession independent from pensions but with the nationalisic morale which wants to sacrifice for the nation or whatever. It seems not to be only about quantity, but also about quality. However, while the traditional military gets modernized , but nót the cyberspace and space war. You will have an Indian modernaztion which keeps pace with the modernized PLA, but not a real deterent if it is beyond the traditional military, nuclear detterence , but cyber space and space and in its combination with this sorts of warfare being left out. Therefore Agnipat won´t solve the Indian military detterence problems. Do you want to have a modernized military without space, cyber space and nuckear detterence? However, nobody decided that it India will merge its space potential with the BRICS under Chinese leadership. But it may be not militarily, therefore no argument. However Aganpith is just a small modernization which wants primarliy change the attitude of soldiers, the whole procurement costs and hopefully unites the own new structure- young, competitive, combat readiness and holistic thinking. Quiet a few. But you have to fill these empty spaces. But maybe we should more think about the German Bundeswehr than about the Indian army as many weaknesses are in the German military too. And not so „not many“.
